South Korea Day 9

In the morning of the 20th, we visited the Freedom Speakers International. I’d never been in a room quite like it, small but welcoming. I could hear the rain outside through the window blocked by a plastic banner. A man and a woman from North Korea spoke about their escape and experience, and the information they gave was touching and horrifying. Like how children are executed for watching South Korean media. Or how they have public executions, are starving, and can be called traitors for catching COVID. Or how KJU added electric fence around the country to avoid escape. Sounds ridiculous, and a monkey could make a better regime. They claimed the reign will eventually fall, but as of yet we don’t have an idea of how. It was very saddening, but beautiful to hear how they described the new land as heaven.

South Korea Day 8

On Tuesday, we went to K-Star road and CoEx mall. Titi allowed me to borrow her puma Wicked  slippers, and I was so happy to walk around with some padding! The mall was my favorite part, as I was highly anticipating to see the large library set nearly from floor to ceiling. We visited a skater/rock/pop inspired clothing store, and it was by far my favorite part. I was excited to find Sanrio characters, KPop stars, and other merchandise that would not be found in the United States. Taking the subway was hectic that day, Titi had lost some of us, and it felt like every man for himself! Haha

South Korea Day 7

Monday in Seoul began early, and not much getting ready was required because our hair and outfits would be done for us. We visited to wear the traditional Hanbok, and it was the second time in my life that I’ve work a poof. I really love poofs, so I was excited. Quickly the women told us to pick out our outfits, and dressed us. Then, we were sat down to get our hair done, and I felt like a princess when it was all done. I do feel however that more hair taming could have been done. We visited the second house of the King, and this one was a lot less homey, but still beautiful. It was so fun to get pictures there, and enjoy the romantic house first. It was blazing hot, so luckily we went to the hotel early. Later that night, my group ate dinner and went to the rooftop of the hotel.

South Korea Day 6

On Sunday Day 6, I woke up with a very sore throat and fever! I knew I had to visit the clinic, and so my professor and I took a taxi (a couple of times) to end up at the clinic. The wait amazingly was only estimated as 3~5 minutes- ALWAYS! I saw the doctor quickly, and in the next room was the pharmacy. I was lucky to be able to meet with the group at Seoul Tower, and then we took the bus back around the hotel. I was soo sleepy from my first day of medicine, so I went back to the hotel and slept. It felt so good.
