Transformation Drawing

First Drawing, Transformation #1
'Her'
materials: pen, paper
36 x 36in
I enjoyed working with a big size, and I freely drew this, moving the paper around as I found references that inspired me.

    Transformation #2
'We'
gesso, yarn, ink, plastic, tape, paint, pen, paper
36 x 36in
During this process, I felt like I understood a bit of Pollock's process due to the fact that I made this on the floor mostly standing during the process. I poured ink, paint, moved it around and used the plastic to move around different materials. It was a new experience that I want to repeat in the future.

Transformation #3
'It'
gesso, yarn, ink, plastic, tape, paint, pen, paper, black spray paint, vinegar
36 x 36in
I wanted to completely change this piece that I had attachment to, so I poured a bottle of vinegar and sprayed it outside in my yard. It took days to dry. Again, I liked this process of exploring materials.

Final Transformation
'Stuck Inside'
gesso, yarn, ink, plastic, tape, paint, pen, paper, black spray paint, vinegar, duct tape, sharpie
36 x 36in
I knew that eventually I would turn my drawing into a whale, but I had no idea how it would turn out in the beginning. I love that all that work I did ended up on the inside of the whale, so it has all of these dark stringy innards with a story. I liked the weight of my whale, but I will say I preferred my other transformations. This was a great learning experiment.

'LOOK PARTY'
canvas, ink, paper, soft chalk pastels, water, frames, gesso
57 H X 74in L
This installation was made out of my love for order amongst chaos. My work often takes inspiration from neo-expressionism. Methods I use to work such as working one piece at a time allows me to freely create in abundance. My style and the use of materials is often flowy, and personally I find that important for my creative process.

Quick Challenges Reflection

When making these quick challenges over the semester, I found my boundaries pushed and my mind stretched. Using different materials allowed...
